The Mass Communication Program At Unimac
Last Friday, the air of Unimac IJ buzzed with excitement and creativity as the school hosted its annual Mass Communication Event, “Voices of Change.” The event brought together students, teachers, and local media professionals in a celebration of journalism, storytelling, and the power of communication.
The day began with a vibrant opening ceremony in the auditorium, where the school principal welcomed everyone and emphasized the importance of responsible media in today’s world. The guest speaker, a well-known news anchor from a local TV station, inspired students with her journey through the world of broadcast journalism, encouraging them to use their voices for truth and impact.
One of the highlights of the event was the live news simulation. Students took on roles as reporters, editors, and camera crew to produce a 10-minute mock news bulletin. With smartphones doubling as cameras and homemade props for microphones, the “newsroom” came alive with energy. Topics ranged from school news to global events, showing how well students had prepared and how deeply they cared about the stories they told.
In another part of the school, budding podcasters recorded mini-episodes in makeshift audio booths, covering everything from music reviews to mental health awareness. Social media workshops taught students the dos and don’ts of online communication, and a photography corner showcased stunning photo essays created by the visual storytelling club.
The event wrapped up with an awards ceremony celebrating the best performances and most impactful stories. As students cheered each other on, it was clear that the day had done more than teach communication skills — it had sparked confidence and a desire to express and connect.
By the end of the day,Unimac IJ had become more than just a school — it had become a newsroom, a podcast studio, and a stage for the storytellers of tomorrow.
